A Soft Place to Land: Custom Podcast Cover Design for The Rest Nest
Client Background
Meet Amy, a hypnotherapist and healing practitioner who blends Rapid Transformational Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) counseling to help women move from inner struggle to emotional clarity and empowerment. Her mission is rooted in deep compassion and lived experience—offering others the kind of breakthroughs she once sought for herself.
Amy came to Most Beautiful Design while navigating the early stages of launching something new—her deeply personal podcast, The Rest Nest.
She reached out before she was even ready to launch, drawn to my work and confident I was the right fit—even before Most Beautiful Design officially existed. Hoping the creative process would spark momentum, she saw design as a meaningful first step toward making her podcast real.
The Rest Nest was imagined as a soft place to land in a hard world, where bite-sized meditations could help busy women reconnect with themselves, even amidst the chaos. The vision called for a title block that felt nurturing, soulful, grounded, and visually rich—a true haven for deep feelers.
Design Goals
From the start, we knew this project needed to feel gentle, bold, artistic, and full of heart. Amy was craving a brand that would:
Reflect the emotional depth and vibrancy of her work
Stand out with a colorful, collage-style aesthetic that still felt polished and intentional
Communicate the core message of rest, refuge, and resilience
At the same time, Amy expressed concern that her love of bold, colorful collage might not come across as polished or professional. It was important to her that the final design strike the right balance between vibrant self-expression and intentional refinement.
Creative Process
This is where the collaboration began to take shape, using my Your Story, Your Brand questionnaire. This tool helps clients articulate their vision, voice, and values before we dive into the visuals, and it helps me uncover the story underneath their service.
From there, I create a personalized brand summary—a document that includes their mission, audience, brand tone, core values, and key messaging themes. It acts as a creative roadmap and gave Amy a chance to see who she truly is, what magic she offers, and how she wants people to feel when they interact with her brand.
For Amy, that meant honoring her desire to make healing accessible and beautiful. Her work is about helping others reclaim their softness and their power. We wanted her visual branding to do the same.
Once the brand summary was complete, Amy shared a Pinterest board full of rich color, symbolism, and layered textures.
The Pinterest board is an important step in my collaborative process—it allows me to see each client’s unique aesthetic and start making visual connections that align with their personality and message.
From Amy’s pins, I created a custom mood board and an early mockup using Pinterest's collage tool to visualize what her podcast title block could look like.
It was playful and textured, and Amy immediately loved it!
I loved being able to use my full arsenal of tools as an artist. I started by sorting through my paper collection to find scraps I could use to create a simple nest structure. I knew this would only be a temporary image, so I didn’t want to spend too much time on it until we had finalized the full composition.
After arranging the scraps into a nest shape, I photographed it and began working digitally in Photoshop. Using previously created artwork, I built layered background textures and developed a set of digital mockups that set the tone for the next phase of the design.
I presented 3 options to Amy. Her feedback was clear: she wanted the composition to more closely echo that first collage mockup. With her input in place, the layout came together—and it was time to bring the real nest to life.
I created the nest itself by hand, layering fabric, paper scraps, and typed affirmations to evoke warmth and emotional texture. Once layered, the paper stack was too delicate and complex to glue piece by piece.
That’s when a surprising tool came into play: my iron! I gently pressed the entire nest to flatten and hold its shape, then photographed it for the final collage.
The wildflower bed was digitally built using stock images, arranged in a layered, bursting border of color and bloom—bringing visual joy and a grounded garden-like feel.
Once the visual composition was finalized, typography was the final step, with several layout and font options shared with Amy to find the perfect balance of personality and readability.
“I absolutely love the artwork she created for me and feel so thankful to move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and excitement.”
Final Outcome
The finished design feels vibrant, soulful, and intentionally layered—just like Amy’s work.
She now has a title block that:
Aligns with her message and reflects who she is at this stage of her journey
Evokes the emotional haven her podcast offers
Will support her next chapter with confidence, beauty, and a deeply personal touch
Reignites her excitement and confidence to move forward
It was such an honor to collaborate with Amy on this project, and I can't wait to see The Rest Nest go out into the world.
“Working with Lexis was so much more than creating beautiful design (which was epic in and of itself!). Her thoughtful process helped me gain a clear vision of who I’ve become, the unique offering I bring to the world, and how that all comes to life through my podcast. I absolutely love the artwork she created for me and feel so thankful to move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and excitement thanks to her deep, intentional approach—from brand and personal exploration to the polished, joy-filled final product.”

At Most Beautiful Design Co., I blend intuition, creativity + strategy to help purpose-driven entrepreneurs craft brands that truly reflect who they are. When I’m not designing, you’ll find me watercoloring alongside my kids, wandering outside, or cozied up with a good book on something I can deep-dive into (creativity, business, or personal growth are always at the top of my list).
