Owning Your Magic Starts with Seeing Yourself Clearly
Getting Clear on Who You Are
There’s a quiet struggle I see again and again—especially among thoughtful, capable people who care deeply about their work.
They know there’s something meaningful about how they show up.
They feel it in conversations.
They see it in the impact they have on others.
And yet, when it comes time to put words to it—to explain what makes them them—everything gets fuzzy.
Not because they lack depth or clarity. But because they’re too close to it.
Because what feels obvious to you is often your magic.
What clarity actually is (and what it isn’t)
Clarity isn’t about having the perfect language. It isn’t branding yourself or getting it “right” all at once. And it definitely isn’t figuring out who you are in a single sitting.
Clarity is quieter than that.
It’s recognizing patterns in how you work. Noticing what comes naturally. Naming what’s already true—even if it doesn’t sound impressive yet.
Clarity isn’t something you invent. It’s something you notice.
Why clarity matters
Clarity is the foundation of how we show up.
In conversations, decisions and in how we move through the world—online and in person.
When clarity is missing, we tend to overthink.
We second-guess. We expend energy trying to explain ourselves or prove something.
When clarity is present, things feel lighter.
More honest. More grounded.
Signs you’re getting clearer on who you are
When you’re clear on who you are:
You show up more confidently in person
You’re more natural online
Decisions take less energy
You second-guess yourself less
You feel more magnetic
This is true in business, and it’s true in life.
Clarity doesn’t make you louder—it makes you more you.
Why this kind of clarity can feel hard
Talking about ourselves is uncomfortable.
We often believe that if something feels easy, it doesn’t count. That meaning has to be hard-earned. That value has to be proven.
And because we live inside our own patterns, we can miss them entirely.
Think of a time a friend pointed something out about you with awe—something you’ve always done without thinking twice.
That’s often where the truth lives.
Reflection as a starting point
Clarity rarely comes from pushing harder.
It comes from slowing down. From asking better questions. From giving yourself space to reflect without editing or performing.
Writing—especially journaling—can be a powerful entry point.
Not to sound good. But to notice what’s already there.
A few well-chosen questions can change how you see yourself. 👇🏼👇🏼
Give yourself at least 5 minutes for each question.
Write without editing, do a brain dump. Just get words on to paper. This is not meant to be perfect or polished
How this shows up in my work
In my own work as a designer, this kind of clarity is everything.
What I do isn’t really about aesthetics.
It’s about expression that comes from self-recognition.
When someone sees themselves clearly, it becomes so much easier to express that—visually, verbally, everywhere.
That’s where the beauty really shines through.
Continuing the work
If this resonates, there are a couple of ways to keep working with it.
I created the Brand Story Clarity Guide as a free self-guided resource—a series of reflective questions designed to help you notice what’s already true and translate that clarity into how you show up in your work.
And if you’re craving a more supported experience, I also facilitate this work in guided workshops —creating space for reflection, language, and clarity together.
If you’re part of a team, community, or group and feel called to explore this work together, I also facilitate guided clarity workshops.
These sessions are reflective, conversation-based, and designed to help people tune in, name what’s already true, and leave with a deeper sense of confidence in how they show up.
If that feels like a fit, I’d love to connect.
Clarity has a way of creating momentum—without force. However you choose to engage, the invitation is the same:
Clarity isn’t something you arrive at once.
It’s something you return to.
And often, it begins by letting yourself see what’s been there all along.
Hiya! I’m Lexis, the author of this blog.

At Most Beautiful Design, I blend intuition, creativity + strategy to help purpose-driven entrepreneurs craft brands that truly reflect who they are.
When I’m not designing, you’ll find me watercoloring alongside my kids, wandering outside, or cozied up with a good book (creativity, business, or personal growth are always at the top of my list). And yes—color makes me ridiculously happy!
